Milestones and Mega Tracks: Five Things to Look Forward to After the F1 Summer Break

Ready for the final 10? The F1 Shutdown is approaching its end, and it is time to start turning our attention towards the racing again.

From major milestones to iconic tracks and our final 10 races with a seven-time world champion, the second half of the F1 season has so much to offer.

Three Hundred On the Horizon

Where has that time gone?! To many it will seem like only yesterday that Mercedes returned to F1 as a works team for the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix.

The 2024 United States Grand Prix will mark three centuries of races at the pinnacle of motorsport for our Brackley-based team.

Mercedes as a marque celebrated 300 Grands Prix at Imola in May, but Austin will be the 300th time the team has taken to start line.

It will also be our 300th Grand Prix with title partner PETRONAS, who, since 2010, have provided Fluid Technology Solutions™️ to the team.

The partnership has powered eight consecutive Constructors’ Championships (2014-2021) and seven consecutive Drivers’ Championships (2014-2020), and the 300th Grand Prix is sure to be a weekend full of celebration.

10 Final Races with Lewis

When the F1 grid comes back together in Zandvoort next week, it will mark the first of our final 10 races with Lewis Hamilton as a driver of the team.

The past 12 seasons have been an incredible journey that has seen the partnership break records, push for change and elevate F1 success. To date, there have been 236 races, 84 wins, 76 poles, and 152 podiums – and the story is not finished yet.

The final half of the season will see the team visit the site of some of its most memorable moments with Lewis – from Singapore and the 2018 pole lap, to the title-clinching tracks of Austin, Mexico City, and Abu Dhabi.

F1 Academy

F1 Academy – the all-female racing series that has appeared on the F1 support bill three times already in 2024 will be back on our screens after the summer break.

Junior Driver and Iron Dames racer Doriane Pin will attempt to re-ignite her title charge in Zandvoort, Singapore, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.

Doriane’s season got off to a flying start with two pole positions and a win in Jeddah, and the PREMA driver added a further two podiums in Miami in May.

She goes into the final four rounds 66 points behind Championship leader Abi Pulling, but with a lot of points still to fight for.

Carrying Momentum

Six podiums, three wins, and two poles from the past six races mean the team went into the break on a high, and definitely trending in the right direction after a difficult start to the season.

An incredible effort from everyone at Brackley and Brixworth has closed the gap on track to the front three teams, and we are excited for the fight to continue when the racing gets going again next week.

Seventy-nine points separate the team from Ferrari in P3 in the Constructors, but the gap to the Scuderia was as high as 156 after Monaco in May.

Historic Venues

Ten tracks remain unvisited on the 2024 calendar, and each one will bring its own flavour of colour, energy, and legacy.

Many are steeped in history, and while the buzz of venues such as Singapore, Austin, and Las Vegas have helped expand F1 into new markets, it is always a privilege to go racing at tracks that made their name in yesteryear.

From Zandvoort’s iconic dunes to Monza’s mesmerising forest and the yellow and green kerbs of Interlagos – there will be something for everyone as the F1 2024 season reaches its conclusion.
